POEMS!!! :]]]]]]

JUNGLE GYM DAYS

Lunch done, magic begins
off to the jungle gym
running down the hill
seeing our castle waiting
princesses, ninjas and even flying pigs
one day in Australia
the next day Arizona
waiting for our imagination to begin
koala bears and horses
all or our friends joined us too!
just the two of us
crazy as can be
we would travel the world
but then the bell would ring
and all would disappear
but we would wait
for the next day
we would be off
off to the jungle gym

HANDS

Lend me a hand
a prayer hand
hold my hand
with my own hand
a couple of hands
during a dance
hand me that
that preformers hat
hands together
hands apart
together in union
they'll never fall apart
wedding hand
jeweled with joy
red rover hands together
torn apart
hand in hand
lets take a bow
hand in hand
lets hold on for now

Assignment #2 : Things Remembered

My favorite piece of writing is the poem Picture Puzzle Piece By: Shel Silverstein. I first read it when my fouth grade teacher Ms. Boyle handed me book, Where the Sidewalk Ends By: Shel Silverstein. It had a collection of his poems but the one that stood out the most and had me think about it was the poem Picture Puzzle Piece. It really made my imagination go wild. How such a small piece of wet cardboard could be sooo many things. Since then I have always been thankful of how lucky i am to have such a imagination, but now that I'm getting older the imagination is not as strong as it use to be but every time i read this poem it makes me feel like my imagination has come back to me and that i can imagine anything i want.

One picture puzzle piece
Lyin' on the sidewalk,
One picture puzzle piece
Soakin' in the rain.
It might be a button of blue
On the coat of the woman
Who lived in a shoe.
It might be a magical bean,
Or a fold in the red
Velvet robe of a queen.
It might be the one little bite
Of the apple her stepmother
Gave to Snow White.
It might be the veil of a bride
Or a bottle with some evil genie inside.
It might be a small tuft of hair
On the big bouncy bellyOf Bobo the Bear.
It might be a bit of the cloak
Of the Witch of the West
As she melted to smoke.
It might be a shadowy trace
Of a tear that runs down an angel's face.
Nothing has more possibilities
Than one old wet picture puzzle piece.
By: Shel Silverstein
When were you really happy with your creativity?
When was your imagination at its peak? What was one of the times you used your imagination?

First Assignment 9/12/07

Hi my name is Rima. This blog is for my Creative Writing class. My writing interests are quotes, short stories and haiku poems. I like to make diamond poems and limerick poems and write about my life. In the next four months i'd like to learn how to write better and learn how to make my words flow. I want to learn how to write an actual poem that has meaning and depth in it. My favorite authors have to be Nicholos Sparks, J.K. Rowling and the guy who wrote The Kiterunner. I appreciate their books and how they write because they get a hold of the reader very well. Once i start reading any of their books i can't let go of the book and won't put it down until i finish it. A quote i believe in is "When you were born you were crying and everyone around you was smiling make it though when you die people around you are crying and you are the one smiling." i believe this because i feel like i should make a impact on the world that we live on and that i want to be remembered as someone who would always be happy and not the person who no one noticed.
